Still burnt out on MATLAB? Why not come to X-lab? X-lab at Tianjin University (TJU) has recently kicked off.
X-lab, a series of entrepreneurship training courses, are delivered by preeminent entrepreneurs, covering field visits and six roadshows continuously refined, which will end with a final business roadshow. Taking this course well will not only get you extra credits, but also an innovation and entrepreneurship micro-degree certificate. Renowned alumni investors will be on hand to bring fruitful scholarships (more than 25% coverage of scholarships above 10,000 RMB) and on-site investment for students with outstanding growth performance in X-lab. X-lab is co-sponsored by Xuanhuai School and Peiyang Crabapple Foundation. Projects boasting a high market value will beckon angel investors.
X-lab is not like a regular classroom in that it’s student-centered classroom, where professors are teaching assistants, and entrepreneurs with rich entrepreneurial and practical experience are the main lecturers.
Entrepreneurial thoughts and experiences will be shared by industrialists and investors such as Liu Yi, Ma Ruren, Li Haiping, Wei Hongkun, Li Shoujun, and Yang Xiaofeng, who have done a good job in their respective fields. It provides students interested in innovation and entrepreneurship with possibilities, funding, shared space, practical training, and other complete assistance while nurturing their entrepreneurial skills of specialization and integration. The entrepreneurs will take the students off campus to the alumni entrepreneurial companies in various industries and areas, where they will learn through a mix of theory and practice in real-world circumstances.
The courses cover various topics including finding entrepreneurial partners, developing successful traits and team management skills, building a business model for student entrepreneurship, discovering opportunities for TJU in the context of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Everything, finding a market niche in line with TJU’s cutting-edge technology, how to efficiently finance a start-up team, and how to make fascinating presentations. It aims to provide students a practical understanding of the spirit and attitude of innovation, as well as the essence and value of entrepreneurship.
X-lab is a university-wide program aimed at improving students’ awareness and practical ability of innovation and entrepreneurship. It is dedicated to benefiting more students interested in innovation and entrepreneurship by allowing students to experience the modules involved in the entire process of innovation and entrepreneurship in an actual and systematic manner, to understand the nature of each module and its main impact on the entrepreneurship process, and to allow students to let their imaginations run wild and more creative and entrepreneurial ideas and technologies to thrive in reality.
Tianjin University undergraduates, master’s students (including MBA/EMBA/MEM, among others), and doctoral students (including PhD in engineering) are eligible for the program. There is also the opportunity of enrolling in X-space, which is jointly established by the Office of Student Affairs and Tianjin University Committee of the Communist Youth League.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Micro-degree is jointly constructed by Graduate School and Xuanhuai School, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Micro-major is collectively constructed by the Office of Academic Affairs and Xuanhuai School.
