Professor Yu Guocong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, passed away in Tianjin on April 6, 2022 at the age of 100.
Professor Yu Guocong was born in Guangzhou city, Guangdong Province in November, 1922. He received his Bachelor's degree from Southwest Associated University, China in 1943, his Master’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1945, and his doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1947. He has worked in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tianjin University since 1952. In 1991, he was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
