The national finals of the 8th "Creation of Youth" China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Science and Technology Innovation Project) ended in Wuhan, Hubei Provincerecently.
Under the guidance of Professor Dong Anjie of the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology of Tianjin University, the entrepreneurial team of doctoral student Li Shuangyang won the gold medal in the competition with the project of "connecting heart and blood vessels - the world's first accurate and visible small-caliber artificial blood vessel in vivo".
This is the only team from Tianjin that broke into the finals and won the gold medal. It is also the first time that Tianjin University won the gold medal in the competition.
Li Shuangyang, a doctoral student in the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology of Tianjin University, is the leader of the team. Since 2018, based on the structure of natural blood vessels, he began to imitate the three-layer structure of natural blood vessels from the perspective of bionics. Throughsounddistribution and coordination of functions of artificial vascular materials, he developed a highly bionic, small-caliber, and precisely visualized double-layer hydrogel artificial vessel similar to the structure and function of human beings.
At the beginning of 2021, supported by his Ph.D. supervisor, Li commenced with his entrepreneurial activities to put the research results into practice for the first time.With the assistance of the supervisor team and relevant leading teachers of the college, his team began to take shape. The team members came from different disciplines, spanning multiple academicareas, and received the full support of many internal and external experts and scholars. The project was eventually mature enough to obtain excellent results in this competition.
As the pilot school to undertake the comprehensive reform of “comprehensive, whole process, the full range”-the "three" education in Tianjin, School of Chemical Engineering and Technology of Tianjin University takes scientific research as an important carrier for building morality and cultivating talents, integrates various elements of scientific research and education in discipline development, which forms a new trend of mutual promotion between science and education.
In the wake of the systematic construction of the scientific research and education pattern of chemical engineering features, more contributions will be made to the fostering of socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, art and labor, and cultivation of first-class chemical engineering leading talents responsible for national rejuvenation in the future.
