On October 25, ShanghaiRanking, a professional institute for higher education evaluation, published the “Best Chinese Subjects Ranking”. Tianjin University’s Chemical Engineering and Technology Discipline is among the Top Subjects List and wins the first place for the fifth time in Chemical Engineering Subject.

There are 96 first-level disciplines in the ranking this year. All universities and institutions with those first-level disciplines which can grant academic master degrees were evaluated, and only the top 50% within the specific discipline are posted. A total of 4,992 subjects of 486 universities were selected in the list.

ShanghaiRanking Consultancy is a fully independent organization dedicating to research on higher education intelligence and consultation. It has been the official publisher of the Academic Ranking of World Universities since 2009.

The Best Chinese Subjects Ranking originates from the Platform which is designed for universities to monitor the disciplines’ development. It uses five indicator categories to rank subjects, including talent training, scientific research projects, achievements and awards, academic dissertation and academic talents. There are 17 dimensions containing more than 50 objective quantitative indexes, which reflect the competitiveness of the subjects and involve more than a hundred observational variables. The data of ranking come from third-party sources such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Technology, National Natural Science Foundation and the international and domestic document database, which proves itself very high authoritative.
