Special Mid-Autumn Festival Party to Warm Freshmen’s Hearts

In the eve of this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, 260 freshmen who won the need-based freshman scholarship gathered together and were thrown a festival celebrating party by the University’s Student Affairs Office. They played word riddle, Chinese poem string up puzzle and lucky draw activity together and learned about the university’s financial aid policies through a Q&A session.

The university also prepared TJU special made moon cakes, poverty alleviation products from Tanchang county and jujube kernel pie for students present.

Each student is given a mooncake gift box at the party.

“The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching next week. We may not be able to go back to our hometown to reunite with our family. But today’s activity makes us feel at home. I will remember this kindness and pass it on to others in my way.” said Zheng Changjian, a freshman from the School of Mechanical Engineering.

Zhao Xin, director of Students’ Affairs Office who initiated the party remarked, “For most freshmen, it is the first time that they have spent the Mid-Autumn Festival away from home. The party is to assure students the care and love from the university and help them quickly establish a close connection with the place they are going to spend their college life.” ,

Tianjin University offers a comprehensive program of financial support, including grants and fellowships from internal and external sources. For freshmen in particular, the university sets up a “Fengyu Project” which provides students with work-study programs and some training courses to improve their communication and office skills.
