During Tianjin University’s graduation season, four students from the School of Sciences attracted wide attentions from their peers, not only because they were all going to further their education in renowned universities like Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tianjin University through either recommendation or entrance exams, but also because they came from the same dormitory which was named as Curve Wrecker Dorm consequently. The so-called curve wreckers are Zhang Dongyao, Gu Xin, Li Hulin and Gu Lingxiao.

Zhang Dongyao and Gu Xin will continue their study as graduate students at Tianjin University.

Zhang Dongyao firmly believes that it is utterly important to arm oneself with knowledge and strives all the time to pursue academic excellence. He is a big fan for football and used to be the alternate captain of the Football Team at his school for four years. In his junior year, Zhang and his roommate Gu Lingxiao took part in the second "Excellence Cup" Physics Experiment Competition and won the first prize.

Gu Xin has obtained great results in his academic studies. The average score of his professional courses was over 90 and he scored full marks for mathematical physics methodIand quantum mechanics. In his senior, Gu Xin gave up the opportunity to interview for the graduate admission, and decided to challenge the entrance examination. He got 415 points in the preliminary test and 186 points for the interview. He will study theoretical physics at TJU.

Li Hulin has spent his college life with a clear plan for development. As a freshman, he paid more attention to blending into the university community. He participated in football team training and activities organized by all kinds of student associations and clubs and attended various lectures. Then for the next two years, he focus on academic study, spending most of his time studying at library. He showed his academic excellence by the first prize he won in the university’s physics academic competition. He joined the university’s Innovation Project and was rated as excellent. He also interned in the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. During the whole process, he gradually found his future direction, that was, to engage in scientific research. With relentless efforts, Li Hulin was successfully admitted to Peking University’s Department of Astronomy for further study.

Gu Lingxiao had a similar experience with his roommate Li Hulin. He participated in the scientific research practice held by the Institute of Physics at Chinese Academy of Sciences, and won the first prize in the "Excellence Cup" National Physics Experiment Competition for College Students. Gu was recommended by the School of Sciences to study for the master’s degree at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

More than sharing a room during their undergraduate study for four years, the four students shared some common beliefs for their life and study. “Undergraduate study is quite a long time. During the four years, every student has plenty of time to develop their interests and hobbies while maintaining good academic scores. We sincerely hope that our juniors can find their own life interests and pursue it with unremitting efforts,” they said.
