On June 24, Tianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI) held the 2019 Graduation Ceremony on the Weijin Road Campus. Seventy-two students graduated with both a master degree conferred by Tianjin University and a French engineer diploma granted by CTI(Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur).
Xiao Songshan, President Assistant of Tianjin University delivered a speech entitled “Innovation leads to glory, and openness brings prosperity”. Xiao reviewed how TIEI succeeded in applying French engineer education methods and fostered outstanding graduate students since its establishment in 2014. In 2017, TIEI was certified by CTI and EUR-ACE. He said that on TIEI’s fifth founding anniversary, it joined Polytech Group officially and became the group’s first overseas member.
Chen Guanyi, Dean of TIEI said that with the concept of “focusing on foundation, strengthening practice, broadening horizons and leading the future”, TIEI followed TJU’s guidelines for emerging engineering education, and made new breakthroughs in the fields of specialty setting, enrollment and training, international cooperation and so on.
French Dean Philippe Gourbesville said that he has witnessed the establishment and tremendous development of TIEI. He hoped that TIEI graduates were able to shake off the traditional mindset, maximize personal potentialities and become outstanding engineering leaders with a global vision, innovative spirit and practical abilities, hence contributing to the social development.
Enterprise representative, Shao Peng from NXP Semiconductors, elaborated on how NXP and TIEI jointly built a school-enterprise cooperation practice base. He encouraged graduates to be idealistic and innovative engineers, and to contribute to the motherland in their respective jobs.
The graduate representative, Wang Nan, said that after three years’ study in TIEI, she had witnessed the growth and its remarkable achievements. She felt much honored as a student of TIEI. The diversified faculty of TIEI helped students learn professional knowledge. The school-enterprise cooperation platform and overseas internship projects provide students with internship opportunities and enhance their international competitiveness.
