Recently, many TJU Professors were elected as members of the new Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal People’s Congress (TMPC) and the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). 

Nine staff of TJU were elected as Deputies of TMPC, and 21 staff were elected Deputies of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of CPPCC. Zhong Denghua, President of TJU, He Yue, Professor of the TJU Law School and member of the China Zhigong Party, and Zhang Qichang, head of the TJU Library, Professor of the School of Mechanical Engineering and President of the TJU Committee of the China Democratic League, were elected as members of the Standing Committee of TMPC. Li Minqiang, Vice Dean of TJU College of Management and Economics and President of the Non-Party Intellectual Fellowship Society, Chen Xu, Professor of the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology and Vice Chairman of the TJU Committee of the China Democratic League, Lin Bin, Professor of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the TJU Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, Zhang Shuibo, Vice Dean of the College of Management and Economics and Vice Chairman of the Tianjin Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party, Ming Dong, Deputy Director of the Office of Science and Technology and Chairman of the TJU Committee of the Jiu San Society, were elected members of the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPPCC. 

The newly elected Deputies and members actively offered suggestions and made 41 proposals during the First Plenary Meeting of the First Session of the 17th Tianjin Municipal People's Congress and the first session of the 14th Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPPCC. They believe that being a member is an honor and a responsibility. And in the future, they will perform their duties and make proposals according to their work in order to contribute to the development of Tianjin University and Tianjin.
