Recently, the signing ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Tianjin University and the Hefei Municipal Government was held in the Hefei Administrative Center. Song Guoquan, a member of Standing Committee of the Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Ling Yun, Mayor of Hefei, Han Ding, member of the Standing Committee of Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Hefei, Wu Chunmei, Vice Mayor of Hefei, Xie Haitao, Vice Chairman of Municipal Political Consultative Conference, and other leaders from Hefei and Tianjin University participated in this signing ceremony, which was hosted by Han Ding. 

Han Ding stated that:“This agreement carries out the decisions of the 18th CPC National Congress, 19th CPC National Congress and President Xi Jinping’s “Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” as well as the objectives of green development and innovative development of Hefei. Furthermore, the cooperation between Hefei and TJU is of significance in developing an innovative Hefei and opening up Hefei. It is hoped that the project will be successfully carried out by relevant authorities and the Hefei Economic and Technological Development Area according to the clauses of the agreement. Both sides will develop several mechanisms in order to further cooperation and achieve a win-win result”. 

Yuan Yingjin said that Hefei is the sub-center of the Changjiang city-group, the Comprehensive National Science Center as well as a node city of the Belt and Road Strategy and the Yangtze River Economic Zone. At the 10th TJU Congress of Party Representatives, it was decided that TJU will embark on developing a Chinese characterized, world class and TJU style Socialist university. It will therefore make contributions to securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, striving for the great success of Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and working tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. TJU actively serves the regional economic construction, and regards Hefei as a priority strategic area. The agreement specifies co-sponsorship of projects of the Tianjin University-Hefei Research Institute, which will lay a foundation for a deep, stable, multi-level, long term and win-win cooperation. 

Wu Chunmei and Yuan Yingjin signed the strategic agreement on behalf of Hefei and TJU respectively. 

Before the signing ceremony, Li Jiajun and his entourage visited the Magnetic Field Laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the ITER International Science and Technology Cooperation Project of the Institute of Plasma Physics at the Hefei Institute of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. 

Afterwards, Li Jiajun and his entourage were invited to the 2018 Lunar New Year activities of the Anhui Alumni Association. Xia Yingbiao, President of the Anhui Alumni Association, Vice Presidents Niu Cheng, Jiang Zhi, Yang Shining, Lu Zhibin and other alumni participated in activities. 

Li Jiajun explained the University's "New Three-Step" Development Strategy and achievements in the past year in terms of personnel training, faculty building, enhancement of innovative capabilities and achievements in science and technology. 

Li Jiajun spoke highly of the Anhui Alumni Association who have helped deepen the cooperation between the University and Hefei, and hoped that alumni will continue to strongly support the construction of a world-class university. The Alumni and Fund Office, and the Anhui Admissions Group described university-related issues. Xia Yingbiao said that seeking truth from facts is the truth, keeping upright and innovating is the way forward. Alumni will be conscientious and hard-working. They are worthy of the high reputation of students of Tianjin University. He said: “I hope that Tianjin University will become a world-class university as soon as possible”. 

This strategic cooperation agreement is based on the principle of government supporting, university advancing, school and city cooperating, and win-win development. TJU takes advantage of its strong disciplines and competence in order to help the development of the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center. Moreover, based on the requirements of industrial innovation and development, TJU will establish deep, multi-level and stable long-term cooperation with Hefei and both sides will build the Tianjin University-Hefei Innovative Development Research Institute.
