Hu Wenping, Vice President of Tianjin University (TJU), led a delegation to visit Hanyang University and the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in South Korea, to further promote cooperation in education and scientific research. The delegation consisted of personnel from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, the School of Science, and the TJU Office of International Cooperation among others.
Leaders and Professors of Hanyang University welcomed the TJU delegation. Leaders of both universities made clear their intention to expand cooperation in education and scientific research. Ultimately, the two sides reached a consensus and worked out a plan of cooperation.
During the visit, the delegation visited the History Museum and the laboratories of Hanyang University.
Founded in 1939, Hanyang University, originally featured science and technology, but is now a comprehensive university. As one of the AACSB-accredited universities, it ranked No.155 in 2018 QS World University Rankings and No.2 in 2016 JoongAng Ilbo Rankings. In addition, it tops the fields of chemical engineering and environmental science.
The delegation visited POSTECH on March 15. Leaders of the two universities attended a meeting. Kwang-jae King, Vice President of POSTECH, pointed out that the two universities have similarities in many research fields and spoke highly of the construction of TJU's new campus. He said that TJU is now in the exploration stage of international prestige and hoped to establish a long-term cooperative relationship with TJU. Hu Wenping also hoped that the two universities would gradually expand scientific research exchange and promote substantive cooperation in chemical engineering, environmental science and other fields, and strengthen student exchanges. The two sides reached a consensus on accelerating friendly cooperation. During the visit, the TJU delegation visited the campus sandbox and accelerator laboratories of POSTECH.
POSTECH is the first research-oriented University in South Korea. Founded in 1986, it has rapidly developed into a leading world research-oriented university of science and technology. It ranked No.71 in the latest QS world University Rankings and gradually rose to the top in the fields of chemistry, environmental science and natural science.
