At Peiyang Square, the technology experience activity “Artificial Intelligence Invites the Future” attracts hundreds of visitors. Advanced technologies were introduced, including the featured unmanned aerial vehicle with its long-distance remote operation system, the Petrel Underwater Glider, an Chinese self-developed autonomous underwater vehicle, and Shengong II, a human-computer interaction system. The Shengong II can decode patients’ thoughts and translate them into the computer, and has already been put into medical use. An unmanned car designed by TJU is also on display, amazing the audience.

The Crabapple Blossom Festival is gradually becoming the calling card of Tianjin University. Many high school and primary school students visited the campus. To inspire the young scientists’ curiosity in science, the second ACS-TJU Chemical Festival, jointly organized by American Chemical Society and Health Science Platform of TJU, was also held during the Crabapple Blossom Festival. The event consisted of interesting experiments, including testing the pH value using purple cabbage, studying photosensitive molecules, and observing dissolved fat. During the experiment, participants mix purple cabbage, the natural pH indicator with hot water, add detergent and vinegar and watch the color change. Then they excitedly said, “the color changes as the pH of the solution changes”.

With attendance increasing every year, TJU looks forward to reaching out to the larger community to help spread their influence as far as possible. Museums, schools, research institutes, and laboratories were also opened to the tourists in the festival. Visitors observe and even practice on precision instruments, including microscopes, a 3D oceanic map and other facilities. Most participants were students with a passion for science. "Activities to popularize scientific knowledge held during the Crabapple Blossom Festival are excellent," said Zhang Qiyun, a local citizen in Tianjin, who took her eight-year-old daughter to the TJU campus early in the morning. The technology experience activity captures their eyes. “The new technology TJU presents is fascinating and my daughter must be interested in it. I hope this experience will leave a deep impression on her and be her future inspiration.” She said.
