Tianjin University Holds Top-level DNA Intelligent Manufacturing Forum

 Global

On April 10, 2018, professors, experts and entrepreneurs from famous universities and leading enterprises at home and abroad gathered at the Top-level DNA Intelligent Manufacturing Forum at Tianjin University. TJU Vice President Yuan Yingjin and Prof. Luo Dan from Cornell University, co-chaired the meeting. Experts, scholars and students from various fields made keynote speeches.

The leapfrog development of life sciences, molecular biology and synthetic biology have made possible more in-depth research and exploration of life itself. The construction, testing, and synthesis of DNA, as an important module of life exploration processes, requires high-speed, high-precision, and high-throughput intelligent platform solutions. In this context, DNA intelligent manufacturing will become a highlight of life sciences development.

DNA intelligent manufacturing is attracting considerable attention from experts in different fields from Cornell University, Germany and US enterprises in China and TJU’s Schools. They gave targeted reports on DNA intelligent manufacturing. Their reports covered interdisciplinary research themes including “synthetic biology: the demands of DNA intelligent manufacturing”, “DNA materials based on intelligent manufacturing”, “process automation of DNA assembly” and “methods and strategies for processing high-throughput DNA sequencing devices”. These reports aroused the interest and passion of experts and students at the forum and witnessed active interactions and lively exchanges of ideas.

Experts pointed out that the great demand of DNA is the driving force of the development of DNA intelligent manufacturing platforms. It is necessary to further improve automated intelligent manufacturing platforms, develop new processing methods and strategies and carry out process re-engineering of intelligent manufacturing as well as promote computer intelligence collaborations. Network collaborative manufacturing is also required to build a high-speed, high-precision, and high-throughput DNA intelligent platforms based on the needs of synthetic biology with life research strategy as its core, which lays a solid foundation for technology industrialization in the future.
