Recently, Twente University delegation visited Tianjin University and the School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering on invitation. The Dutch delegation included Professor Ben Betlem and Professor Louis Winnbust, course leaders of Chemical Engineering and Nanotechnology from the school of Science and Technology, along with Chinese representative Mr. Chang Zheng. Wang Hailong, Party Committee Secretary of the school, Zhang Yu, Deputy Secretary, Professor Duan Xuexin and Miss Zhang Hainan participated in the forum. To further promote the internationalization quality improvement plan and strengthen educational construction in internationalization, the School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering is actively organizing such forums and establishing cooperative relationships with overseas universities.
On behalf of the School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering, Wang Hailong warmly welcomed the arrival of Twente University and introduced the teaching and research of the school. Afterwards, Professor Louis Winnbust first introduced the course system of Twente University from undergraduate courses through to doctoral courses. He then presented the admission standards of international students and methods of application. Subsequently, representatives of both schools conducted in-depth discussions and reached agreement on the implementation of the “3+2” project and details of the summer school projects. Both schools stated the desire to deepen cooperation from the foundation and cooperate in multiple areas.
After the conversation, the Twente University delegation gave lectures to students from the engineering and science class of the School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering. Showing keen interest during the lectures, the students learned more about Twente University.
Twente University is known as a key research university directly under the Netherlands’ Ministry of Education. The University is also a member of 3TU, the alliance of three top technological university in the Netherlands (the other two universities included are Delft University of Technology and Eindhoven University of Technology), and the Alliance of European Innovative Universities. It Occupies about 300 acres and has space for two thousand faculty and students in its dormitories, and is also the only campus university in Netherlands. The university is located in the eastern part of the Netherlands, close to the border with Germany.
