The 2018 Workshop of Open Innovation and Entrepreneurship was held at Weijin Road Campus of Tianjin University between April 6 and April 7, 2018. As a member of the OIPEC (Open Innovation Platform for University-Enterprise Collaboration) project, Tianjin University hosted the seminar with the participation of numerous specialists, research scholars and entrepreneurs involved with innovative education and academic projects at home and abroad.

Zhao Lin, Dean of the TJU School of Environmental Science and Engineering, together with Shi Liangxing, Dean of the Xuanhuai School, hosted the opening ceremony.

During the workshop, Professors from the EU, Russia and China exchanged beneficial information on practices in university-enterprise collaborations among the partner universities and shared valuable experience in innovative technology and its significance in practical application in all walks.

Their lectures contributed greatly to professional knowledge in the design and innovation domains.

Considering the current intelligent and innovative manufacturing background, domestic specialists emphasized the significance of altering China’s attitudes towards development models by creating instead of producing. Focusing more on quality rather than quantity and adjusting developmental patterns to exclusive brand establishment were put forward as well in order to accommodate the national trend.

During the seminar session after the keynote speeches, the participants shared their opinions and experience on how to transform the power of innovation into competitiveness and how to avoid limitations in the transformation process. In addition, the prospects and models of university-enterprise collaboration were explored.
