Oklahoma State University Delegation Visits Tianjin University

To further promote the internationalization quality improvement plan and strengthen college internationalization, the School of Precision Instrument and Opto-electronic Engineering, Tianjin University, invited a delegation from Oklahoma State University. Prof. Randy Kluver, Dean of the Institute of Global Research and Partnerships, Prof. Bret Danilowicz, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Norb Delatte, Dean of the Department of Building and Environmental Engineering, and Ms. Vivian Wang, Head of China Cooperation Program visited TJU and attended a forum. School leaders also participated in the forum including Wang Hailong, Party Committee Secretary, Cai Huaiyu, Associate Deans and Prof. Zhang Weili.

On behalf of the school, Wang Hailong expressed a warm welcome to the arrival of the Oklahoma State University delegation on behalf of Tianjin University’s School of Precision Instrument and Opto-electronic Engineering, and reviewed the extensive foundation of cooperation and the profound relationship between both sides in the field of scientific research and student development. Subsequently, he introduced the current state of the internationalization process, further study of students overseas and the overseas assessment of faculty in the reform of personnel system at the college. Next, Randy Kluver expressed appreciation for the cooperation and wished further cooperation on the existing basis. Hence, Vivian suggested different cooperation modes such as “2+2”, “3+1” and summer camps, with the hope of signing international cooperation agreements and advancing the cooperation process. Finally, willingness to engage in deep cooperation and the mutual desire to promote the implementation of the project was achieved.

Founded in 1890, Oklahoma State University is a land-grant, sun-grant, and public flagship university. Like many other U.S. state universities, Oklahoma State University benefited from the land grant bill signed by President Lincoln on July 2, 1862. The university can award associates, bachelors, masters, doctors, and professional degrees and is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a high research activity university. The advantage of sports is a major feature of the university. Oklahoma State University has won 51 NCAA championship titles, ranking fourth in the United States and ranking first in the Big Twelve League. The school is also one of the few universities in the United States where the "three big balls" (American football, basketball, baseball) have all won championships.
