Library Introduction Session for SPST

Tianjin University Library held a session in English for all faculty members and students of the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (SPST) on Weijin Road Campus recently. Library researchers Zhang Li, Yan Pei, and Wei Danmei, Party secretary of SPST Feng Cuiling, vice dean of SPST Zhou Yan and more than 70 Chinese and international teachers and students attended the session. 

The session includes four sections: First, the current resources and services of the library. Second, the databases available in the library, retrieval methods and commonly used tools of key databases like Web of Science, Scopus and Sci Finder etc. Third, how to obtain original texts from databases and the introduction of the discovery system for one-stop searching of resources. Fourth, at the request of the foreign teachers, the lecturer highlighted the method to access  the library document delivery service under the condition that the original text cannot be obtained. 

The detailed explanation, concise demonstration and report enabled both Chinese and foreign teachers and students to quickly gain a deeper understanding of the library's resources, services and operational skills. After listening to the introduction and demonstrations, the audience discussed the use of retrieval software, cloud storage of scientific research documents and details of document transfer operations with the library staff. 

Devoted to serving the teaching and research of teachers and students, Tianjin University Library is a comprehensive, research-oriented, open and modernized library with high-quality librarians and abundant resources. In SPST, as a national international model college, nearly half of the faculty and forty post-doctors and students are from overseas. This is the first time that the library and SPST have cooperated to hold such an English session, which aims to enable foreign teachers and students to fully understand and make good use of the high quality resources of the library. It also opens up new ideas for future exchange and cooperation between the two parties.
