Qiushi Honors College Greets China’s Youth Day

To coincide with China’s Youth Day, Qiushi Honors College held a chorus contest with the theme of “uniting the energy of youth, singing youth’’s dream” recently. The activity took place in the Undergraduates Activity Center, with all the freshmen of Qiushi Honors College. 

Class two of materials engineering sang a song called “The Country” 

During the competition, the nine league branch classes sang a lot of songs, such as “The Country”, “My Chinese Heart”, “Sing our Motherland” and so on. Four classes enhanced their performances with special methods. Firstly, students of materials engineering used sign language to make their songs more vivid. Secondly, students from class two of the machinery major matched song and poetry for their effort. Thirdly, it is exciting for a class of students majoring in electricity use the mv and in the spirit of their own army as a background. Fourthly, another class of students majoring in electrical engineering sang a song called “My Chinese Heart”, which made us proud and hopeful. 

After the competition, all the students went to Tailei Square to sing a song together called “How brilliant the Communist Youth League is” and took photos.

In the end, class two of electrical and electronic engineering won first prize. Class two of mechanical engineeringmaterials engineering, and class one of electrical and electronic engineering received the second prize. Other classes won third prize.

“Today is China’s Youth Day, so being consistent with Chairman Xi Jinping’s request that youths use their whole lives to pursue our Party, we held this contest” Zhao Bingzhun, a student of Qiushi Honors College and one of the planners of this activity, said:” On the one hand, the activity is to celebrate the day together. On the other hand, we provide students with a stage to demonstrate their active spirituality, enhance friendship between classes, and make university life more colorful.” 

“We were excited when we knew about the activity and so we focused on the clothing. Boys wore Western-style clothes and the girls wore white long dresses.” Xu Chensong, the master of the winners’ class said “we practiced our songs again and again. We also shared functions, with each of us focusing on one aspect of the chorus contest. We worked hard together and to win our honor.” 

This activity was organized for the 99th anniversary of China’s Youth Day. The students were actively engaged in this activity to bring out their best, displaying youthful vigor and patriotism.
