Tianjin University and Sinochem International Corporation (Sinochem International) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on April 26, 2018. The two parties will integrate their dominant resources to deepen cooperation in sectors such as alternative energy and new materials in the new era, contributing to the construction of an innovative China.
The university and the corporation will work together to establish a strategic cooperative partnership. They will make joint efforts to boost the development of a new energy automobile, lithium battery and fuel cell by building a Sinochem International – Tianjin University New Energy Research Institute. All-round cooperation in key technologies, cutting-edge research and top talent cultivation will be conducted. They will explore a university-enterprise cooperation model, create a cooperation mechanism, focus on original innovation, and speed up the commercialization of research findings, achieving a win-win result.
Li Jiajun, Party Secretary of Tianjin University said Tianjin University upholds the strategy of invigorating China through science and technology, and driving development through innovation. Tianjin University focuses on major national strategic demands and worldwide leading technology. As China is in a pivotal period of changing development models, optimizing the economic structure and having new growth drivers, universities are supposed to play a major role in addressing key technological issues and transferring technology power to productivity. The agreement indicated an effective path for cooperation by exploring basic research, technology invention and industrial development, accelerating integration of achievement transformation, innovation and entrepreneurship. We hope we can make ground-breaking achievements in new energy and biochemical technology to devote more to an innovation-oriented China.
Feng Zhibin, Chairman of Sinochem International, said its core competitiveness in fine chemicals, agrochemicals and natural rubber, development in lithium-ion solid-state battery and fuel cell technology and sound industrial layout in cathode material and anode material for lithium-ion battery laid a foundation for cooperation. He hoped both parties would cooperate in a multi-level and multi-form manner in the future, pursuing practical results and high efficiency, and leaving enough time for scientific exploration to strive for more results to contribute to the construction of an innovative country.
