Novel Fruit Tasting Kicks Off the Annual Fruit Project

 Arts and Culture

Tianjin University’s Novel Fruit Tasting was held in both the Weijin Road Campus and the Peiyangyuan Campus on April 29. During this activity, students not only tasted various fruits but they also made some delicious fruit recipes.

As one of the main activities of the Fruit Festival, Novel Fruit Tasting provides students with the opportunity to try less common fruit which were unable to be included in the distribution day of the Fruit Festival.

This Novel Fruit Tasting prepared more than ten different kinds of fruit for students, including strawberries, lychees, cherries, blueberries, and grapes. Students creatively used the fruit to make all kinds of fruit drinks and dishes, such as fruit milk shakes and fruit juice. Students rejoiced in this DIY cooking.

Students also took their DIY fruit concoctions to their dormitories, canteens, security posts and teachers’ offices to express their appreciation of each other.

Tianjin University has been concerned about students’ physical and mental health and noticed that many students had bad habits including staying up late at night, not eating breakfast or fruit, and not doing enough exercise. To enhance students’ awareness of health and to promote their full development, TJU decided to host the Fruit Project in 2002. Twice each year, during spring and autumn, TJU provides free fruit for students to remind them to pay attention to their health and to eat a balanced diet.
