In order to further promote the international quality improvement plan, the School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering, Tianjin University (TJU) adheres to strengthen the internationalization of the school. Recently, a delegation from the Malaysian University of Malaya visited the School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering. Representatives of the delegation included Dr. Henk Metselaar, Dr. Ang Bee Chin, Dr. Andrl Andriyana, and Dr. Nazatul Liana Sukiman, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Malaya. Dr Wong Yew Hoong. Mr. Wang Hailong, Party Secretary of School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering, and Mr. Benjamin Seeberger, Director of the Internationalization Enhancement Project participated in the forum.
Wang Hailong first expressed his warm welcome to the delegation of the University of Malaya on behalf of the school, and he pointed out that the school plans to conduct extensive international cooperation and communication with internationally renowned universities in terms of scientific research and student development. Subsequently, Mr. Benjamin Seeberger gave a detailed introduction to the history, professional settings, research direction, and international collaboration processes of the Institute. Mr. Henk Metselaar introduced the educational model, faculty, professional orientation, and international students of Malaya University. Subsequently, both sides exchanged views on relevant research fields and both sides expressed their willingness to conduct deep cooperation in the future. Finally, the delegation visited the MEMS laboratory and conducted discussions with faculty members.
The University of Malaya was formally established on January 1, 1962. It is a comprehensive university of arts and sciences and medicine. It is one of the largest and most famous universities in Malaysia as well as the oldest. Its predecessors were Kolej King Edward VII School, established in 1905, and Kolej Raffles School, founded in 1929. King Edward VII mainly cultivated medical talents, and Raffles College cultivated talents in education. Qualified and academically recognized around the world, it is the premier school in Malaysia. The current Honorary President is the Sultan of Perak, Malaysia, who is the highest chief of his kind in Malaysia, Azlan Shah, and the current president is Dr. Abdullah Sanusi Ahmed. The University of Malaya is the only university in Malaysia that is a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) and has extensive connections with famous universities both at home and abroad. In February 2018, the University of Malaya ranked 46th in the 2018 Times Asia Universities rankings.
