On May 3, Dr. Gu Lihui, delivered a wonderful lecture for Qiushi Honors College students. He is the chief representative of overseas cooperation projects for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Firstly, Dr. Gu described the pleasant natural scenery and diverse cultural life of California and UCLA from the perspective of living there and experiencing the local customs. UC consists of 10 public universities and is one of the most influential public university systems in the world. In recent years, UC Berkeley and UCLA tied for first place in the ranking of public universities. Academically, there are 14 professors and graduates at UCLA who have won the Nobel Prize. The engineering majors rank among the highest in the United States.

Dr. Gu then focused on two UCLA 2018 Summer programs: the English enhancement program and the science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship training camp. These projects can greatly improve the ability of participants to communicate in English, increase their knowledge, expand their international vision, and lay a good foundation for studying abroad in the future. Additionally, Dr. Gu introduced the key points that we should pay attention to when applying to UCLA, such as scientific research experiences and the reputation of undergraduate institutions.

Finally, Dr. Gu hoped that students realize their ideals and ambitions, while having an international vision and have a bright future.
