On June 5, the message board, filled with the names of all kinds of dishes, drew the attention of all the faculty and students dining at Student Canteen No.1, Peiyangyuan Campus at Tianjin University. It signalled a new service the canteen launched for the dinning orders.

Faculty and students can leave messages on the order board, writing down the delicious dishes they want to eat. The canteen cook will choose two dishes to make from the board every day and all the faculty and students are then able to buy them from the window.

Every day, this message board will be renewed. The board is always full of all kinds of dishes in less than a half day. The idea of the board has gained high praise from faculty and students.

According to a Manager of Canteen No.1, every day, the canteen will choose appropriate dishes to purchase ingredients based on the suggestions of faculty and students. If fast enough, these new dishes will appear in the window on the following day.

All dishes can be served the next day, as long as they know what you want to eat today.

A few students are buying the new dishes they wanted from the canteen window.

A student in the canteen said: “This message board can inform the canteen what students truly want to eat, which is beneficial for improving the dishes and provides a means for direct communication between the canteen and students.”

Without having to go out of the school gate, students can enjoy their favorite meals. This kind of “private ordering” is welcomed by students.
