Recently, the International Volunteers and Communication Association (IVCA) Establishment Ceremony was held in Building No.24. Dean Jay Siegel, Party secretary of School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (SPST) Feng Cuiling, Vice Dean Kim Baldridge, Vice Dean Zhang Ling, Vice Dean Zhou Yan, and Deputy Party Secretary Du Yunfei attended the ceremony.
After the hostess announced the official beginning of the ceremony, Cheng Yiting, the IVCA chairman, gave a working report of the IVCA, which presented a detailed status report of the association including the basic characteristics, objectives, functions, members, and working scheme.
Dean Jay Siegel and Party secretary of SPST Feng Cuiling presented the appointment certificates to the chairman and ministers of each department, meanwhile gave the congratulations and encouragement to association members. Then Dean Siegel addressed the audience, delivering an inspiring speech, which acted as an appropriate ending to the establishment ceremony. He emphasized the importance of fostering a spirit of cooperation and dedication via comparing volunteerism in eastern and western culture. Dean Siegel also showed appreciation and expectation for the future development of the IVCA. He encouraged the students of the Health Science Platform to be actively engaged in international academic communication and voluntary work, accomplishing professional self-improvement, while promoting the further development of the Health Science Platform.
It is worth mentioning that, at the time of the establish ceremony, IVCA volunteers were providing voluntary reception work for a communicative project of CUHK (Chinese University of Hong Kong). The, International Volunteers and Communication Association can definitely go a long way towards providing a better academic environment and communication opportunities with the efforts from the whole staff and the support given by SPST, which will propel the Health Science Platform!
