Recently, Professor Chen Zhining, Distinguished Professor of Yangtse River Scholar visited Tianjin University and delivered a speech to microelectronics-majored students in the School of Microelectronics. The speech focused on Metantenna Technologies for 5G and concluded the challenges and opportunities arisen in the research hotspots on 5G.

To begin with, Chen demonstrated the evolution and trends of antennas in base-stations in order to put forward the promising antenna technologies in 5G. Then, he elaborated examples in application of EM lens antennas in 5G.

The lecture was widely praised by students. After the speech, Prof. Ma Kaixue the dean of School of Microelectronics, Associate Prof. Yang Jinsheng, along with Prof. Gong Ke, Associate Prof. An Wenxing had an informal discussion with Chen. They expressed warm welcome to him and at the same time discussed the possibilities for bilateral cooperation in the near future.
