On the afternoon of July 16, 2018, the Opening Ceremony of the Overseas Chinese Youth "Root-seeking Journey" Chinese Wushu Summer Camp: Tianjin University Camp was held at Tianjin University. 82 Chinese youths and their team leaders from Poland, Italy and Spain participated in the summer camp. The ceremony was presided over by Chen Zhihua, Dean of the School of International Education of TJU.
Zhang Lixin, assistant to the President of TJU, gave a welcoming speech on behalf of TJU. He introduced the long history and development of Tianjin University, listed the outstanding alumni of the school and their brilliant achievements. He encouraged overseas Chinese youth to seize this short time to study Chinese culture, their inheritance, to visit Tianjin's antique streets and buildings, especially to observe and practice Chinese martial arts, so that they could have a better understanding of the meaning of Chinese traditional culture, fully appreciate the charm of Tianjin, an international metropolis, deeply feel the essence of Chinese martial arts, further strengthen the relationship with their ancestral country, and contribute to the development of it. At the same time, he hoped that the half-month stay in TJU would be a happy and unforgettable memory in the campers' lives.
A Team Leader from Poland and two campers from Spain and Poland spoke at the meeting. They said that it was a rare and precious opportunity to return to the motherland to participate in the summer camp, so they hoped to seize it and learn more, so that overseas Chinese teenagers could better understand their ancestral country China, and inherit Chinese traditional culture and passed it on.
Finally, Chen Zhihua announced the opening of the Great Dream Education School in Poland as the cultural experience base for international students of TJU, and personally presented the plaque to President Zhu Dan. The wonderful talent show of the campers deeply moved the guests. The opening ceremony ended successfully in an atmosphere of happiness of all the leaders, teachers and campers, which fully reflected the friendship between the compatriots of the motherland and the overseas Chinese who share the same root and blood.
