The 18th National University Track & Field Championships were held from July 16 to July 20 in Heilongjiang Province. A Tianjin University athlete won a gold and bronze medal.

Deng Ji, a 2017 doctoral student from the School of Precision Instruments and Optoelectronics Engineering won the championship and third place in the finals of the Men’s 10,000m and 5,000m respectively with clever tactics and tenacious perseverance.

The National University Track & Field Championships are the largest scale sports competition for college students in China and most universities and students participate. At the 18th National University Track & Field Championships, Tianjin University team was led by three coaches, Liu jiang, Lu Wenfeng and Meng Qingfu, and ten students entered the event. There were 199 universities and more than 2600 athletes and coaches from all over China who participated in the competition.
