On July 25, the 14th China International Chorus Festival (CICF) successfully ended in Beijing. The Peiyang Chorus from Tianjin University won six prizes for its exquisite choral artistry, and finally won second place in the championship.

Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the International Choral Federation and the Chinese Choral Association, the CICF is the largest and highest-profile international choral art event held in China. It is a comprehensive choral artistic event that features domestic and foreign professional and amateur choral groups. The CICF is held every two years and has been successfully held for thirteen sessions. According to incomplete statistics, over 2,000 domestic and foreign chorus groups have participated in the CICF over the years, with a total number of more than 60,000 performers.

In the week-long Choral Festival, the Peiyang Chorus performed songs such as “Ave Virgo Sanctissima", "Animal Cracker", and other compositions. The expert judges unanimously affirmed they stood out from the other 308 participating teams from 58 countries and regions and won the honor of the adult mixed chorus group, the young mixed chorus group and the “Top Ten Chorus”. Wen Yuchuan, the Chorus conductor and youth pianist composer, won two awards for outstanding Chorus Conductor and excellent piano accompaniment; Professor Ren Baoping, artistic director and Chief Conductor of Peiyang Chorus and famous contemporary chorus conductor, won the special contribution award. In the end, the Peiyang Chorus won second place in the 14th China International Choir Festival with an outstanding performance.

Peiyang Chorus also opened the "Chorus Master Class" during the Choral Festival. Professor Ren Baoping, the artistic director of the choir, shared their experience with high-level choral teams from home and abroad, explaining chorus production theory and imparting unique chorus skills. Ren believes that a Chinese chorus must have features of “harmony and difference". In the choice of works, the choir should be good at innovation and attempt quality works of high difficulty, high standard and different styles. The profound knowledge of Professor Ren and the wonderful performances of the chorus have left a deep impression on people in this field.
