Tianjin University’s “Government Data Cognitive Computing Research Center” Officially Granted Plaque

On August 22, the 2018 mid-term working meeting of the National Engineering Laboratory of Big Data Application Technology for Improving Government Governance Capacity was held in Guiyang. At the meeting, a number of co-construction units were announced and granted plaques. Tianjin University, as one of the new co-construction units, was officially granted the “Government Data Cognitive Computing Research Center”. Professor Hu Qinghua, Deputy Director of TJU’s School of Intelligence and Computing, attended the award ceremony. 

Wang Daming, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Laboratory of the CETC Big Data Research Institute, detailed the work of the laboratory in the first half of the year, the working ideas in the second half of the year and the operation and management plans for the co-construction units. 

The co-construction units reported their previous R&D results and the work-plans of the next phase. Professor Hu Qinghua reported that the main goal of the Government Data Cognitive Computing Research Center is to improve the level of intelligence in social governance, and introduced the faculty team, supporting conditions, work foundations, and representative topics. At the meeting, a number of co-construction units expressed strong interest in the research results of Tianjin University and their expectations for later cooperation. 

The foundation of the National Engineering Laboratory of Big Data Application Technology for Improving Government Governance Capacity was formally approved by the National Development and Reform Commission on November 23, 2016. There were originally four co-construction units and seven new co-construction units, including Tianjin University and Fudan University, were added this time.
