On September 15th, 150 alumnus of Department of Civil Engineering and 50 alumnus of Department of Water Recourses (Major in Harbor Engineering), who graduated in 1988, returned to their alma mater after 30 years. They recalled fond memories of the days when they were students here at the School of Civil Engineering of Tianjin University.
They visited the History Museum of Tianjin University. Since the School was founded 123 years ago, it has made great achievements, and the glorious history of their alma mater made all the alumnus feel very proud.
The alumnus of Department of Civil Engineering graduated in 1988 invited the dean of the School of Civil Engineering professor Han Qinghua, Vice-dean of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering professor Liu Xianhua and Deputy Secretary of the Office of Alumni Association Mr. Gu Yu to introduce the latest developments of the University, let all the alumnus get familiar with the University and its School. The alumnus couldn’t help but applaud because Tianjin University was no longer what it used to be when they graduated: it has achieved a quantum leap and as a result there are great improvements in all the academic majors the alumni used to study.
At last, the alumnus of Department of Civil Engineering donated books which worth 10 thousand RMB to the new campus of University named “Sea Workers Family”. Now teachers and students of the School of Civil Engineering and the School of Environmental Science and Engineering have the opportunity to study a broad range of books.
After visiting the Zhengdong Library known as “the most beautiful library”, the alumnus came to the Office Building 43 located in the new campus of School of Civil Engineering.
Looking back on the past 30 years, it is so good to get together. The alumnus have put forward their best efforts working all over the world, and school motto “seek truth from facts” of alma mater has had a strong influence on them. The alumnus said, “As long as there is a chance, we should often visit our alma mater, we must carry forward the spirit of Tianjin University!”
