On September 22, the two-day Fourth China Collegiate Programming Contest ended in Jilin Province. In the contest, teams from TJU won two second prizes, one third prize, and one prize for the fastest problem solver.

Altogether, there were 227 teams consisting of 681 students from universities around China that entered the contest, including three teams of nine undergraduates from TJU. They came from the College of Intelligence and Computing at TJU and were coached by Yu Ruiguo, Yu Mei, and Wang Jianrong.

The China Collegiate Programming Contest (CCPC), is held annually sponsored by the Association of China Collegiate Programming Contest, attracting college students worldwide. The contest aims to encourage college students to solve practical problems through computer programming technology and knowledge, stimulating their interest in writing algorithms and programming and cultivating team spirit, innovation ability, and challenging their skills.

After the contest, the TJU team members reflected on unsolved bugs and the algorithms used in the contest so as to get better results in future contests. Yuan Yuhao, one of the team members majoring in Computer Science and Technology from grade 2016, posted on his social homepage: “It is often said that one minute's brilliant performance on the stage is attributed to ten years' practice off the stage, and that’s also true of our contest. Contests are like sailing against the current, and the problems we met in contest were like meeting a submerged reef and a whirlpool in the water. Cowards will be engulfed by that, while brave fighters can overcome that and move forward”.

At present, the TJU ACM team is made up of about 100 people, covering different majors such as computing, software, information, and automatization. In 2016, the TJU team successfully qualified for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) - International Collegiate Programming Contest 2016 World Finals held in Phuket, Thailand. The team tied for 28th place with Cornell University and University of California, Berkeley, worldwide and was ranked 6th at home. The TJU ACM team is continuously trying to surpass itself and striving for higher goals.
