On October 8, a faculty group led by the Executive Dean, Alastair Burt and the Internationalization Officer, Peter Bardadyn from the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide in Australia, visited TJU’s Medical College. Later, the two sides had extensive discussions on intelligent medical personnel training, scientific research and industrial development.
Ming Dong, Executive Deputy Director of TJU’s Office of Science and Technology said that the cooperation agreement signed by Tianjin University Party Secretary Li Jiajun, with the University of Adelaide in September during his visit to Adelaide laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two universities. It is hoped that this visit will expedite the cooperation between the two sides in the field of health and medicine.
Representatives of Tianjin University updated the guests with TJU’s program of Intelligent Medical Engineering, progress achieved in the field of intelligent medicine, the Research Institute of Disaster Medicine, and the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology.
Alastair Burt introduced the University of Adelaide and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He highlighted Adelaide's plan for constructing a biomedical urban area and expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation with TJU’s Medical College in joint doctoral training and scientific research to mutually promote the development of health medicine between the two universities.
During the meeting, the two sides further discussed the joint training program for undergraduates and postgraduates, the student exchange program and the direction of scientific research cooperation in the field of health medicine. A fruitful consensus was reached to set up a China-Australia Joint Research Center for Intelligent Medicine and to promote cooperation in major international scientific research projects. Details of the plan will be carried out by the two sides as soon as possible.
Consequently, the delegation visited to the Research Institute of Biomedicine Engineering and Translational Medicine, the Medical Simulation Center and the Medical Multi-Station Examination Center at the Tellyes Scientific Company, got a better understanding of the development history and construction concept of TJU’s Medical Science as well as its future development plans, TJU’s scientific research achievements in this field and China’s world-leading products in the fields of medical simulation and virtual experimentation as well as tuition management systems.
