Recently, School of pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Tianjin University (SPST) undertook the opening ceremony of "the 2nd Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Pharmaceutical and Traditional Chinese Medicine And Reforms in Practical Education and Training Competition" in Students Activity Center on Weijin Road Campus of Tianjin University, which is hosted by the National Experimental Demonstration Center for Experimental Education, P.R.China, and China Pharmaceutical University. Vice president of Tianjin University Wang Shuxin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Liu Changxiao, Minister of the National Experimental Demonstration Center for Experimental Education Zhou Yongyi, head of the pharmaceutical subject group of the National Experimental Demonstration Center for Experimental Education joint conference You Qidong attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. The ceremony was hosted by Zhang Ling, Vice Dean of SPST.
Wang Shuxin expressed warm welcome and sincere thanks to experts for attending the meeting, and briefly introduced Tianjin University, as well as the achievements of teaching reform in SPST. At last, Wang encouraged the participating teachers and students to promote the innovation ability and level, to make more contribution to the experimental teaching reform.
Academician Liu around the theme of the policy of strengthening college students' innovative, delivered the speech to encourage the college students to learn professional skills and actively take part in the innovation and reforms, becoming the successors to the cause of Chinese medicine.
Minister Zhou Yongyi pointed out the significance of promoting exchanges and cooperation between peer universities. Professor You Qidong fully affirmed the internationalization education reform of SPST, and called for the peer universities to take advantage of this chance to strengthen the communication with TJU.
Then, Minister Zhou Yongyi, and Director of the National Experimental Demonstration Center for Experimental Education, Vice President of the National Laboratory of Basic Medical Morphology, and professor of Southern Medical University presented two excellent invitation reports.
The competition began in the No.19 Teaching Building of Weijin Road Campus of Tianjin University. It had eight subsites, with 165 teachers and students from 73 domestic and foreign universities including the United States, Germany, the Netherlands and Thailand. Nearly 500 people took part in the competition. The opening and closing ceremonies of the competition were broadcast live on the Internet.
The closing ceremony also held on Weijin Road Campus of Tianjin University，Dean of SPST Jay Siegel, Professor. Joseph M. O 'connor from the University of California, San Diego, and Professor Kou Junping from China Pharmaceutical University made the reports for the closing ceremony. The closing ceremony was presided over by Party Secretary of SPST Feng Cuiling.
Dean Jay Siegel made a report titled "Tianjin University, International Standard Education Program in SPST, TJU", introducing students' cultivation, teaching staff, overseas advisory committee members and teaching features of SPST, TJU. Professor Joseph M. O 'connor shared the experience of how to find out the motivation and enthusiasm through internal effort and external guidance. Professor Kou Junping made a report to introduce the development history of China Pharmaceutical University and the talent cultivation idea centered on traditional Chinese medicine.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Li Zhiyu, Vice Dean of the School of Pharmacy, China Pharmaceutical University. A total of 17 special prizes, 32 first prizes, 44 second prizes, 10 special prizes, 22 first prizes and 29 second prizes were awarded to students for innovation and entrepreneurship.
