Training Agreement for Doctor of Engineering Signed with CECEP

A delegation of the TJU Graduate School and the School of Environmental Science and Engineering (SESE) led by Zheng Gang, Executive Dean of the Graduate School, visited the China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP) on October 25. The two sides exchanged in-depth views and held a signing ceremony for a joint training agreement for a Doctor of Engineering program.

Zheng Gang first introduced the background and the attributes of a Doctor of Engineering education at TJU and the outstanding achievements made in engineering education in recent years. He also pointed out that the joint training agreement is of great significance to the development of disciplines and specialties at TJU, the quality of talent training and the improvement of the university operating level. Additionally, he exemplified the progress SESE has achieved in the cultivation of doctors of engineering in the field of energy and environmental protection. It is hoped that both sides will continue to explore and accumulate the experience in training doctors of engineering and foster a group of leading talents with abundant knowledge and excellent skills in the field of engineering through cooperation.

Zou Jiefu, Chief Engineer of China Energy Conservation, gave an introduction to the cooperation between CECEP and TJU in recent years and pointed out that the joint training agreement is of great importance to the future development of their company. He also hoped that both sides would take this signing as an opportunity to focus on sharing and construction of talent cultivation and work together to achieve win-win cooperation.

The two sides reached a consensus on the recruitment, training and degree awarding of Doctor of Engineering, and signed a joint training agreement of Doctor of Engineering. The agreement marks the beginning of deepening cooperation between two sides in training doctors of engineering, which is of vital significance to the construction of relevant disciplines and the improvement of training quality of internationalized application-oriented talents.

Authorized in 2011, the Doctor of Engineering Program at TJU is one of the first 25 pilot programs. It has been recruiting students since 2012. So far, the field of Energy and Environmental Protection and the field of Advanced Manufacturing have been opened to enroll doctoral candidates. SESE is TJU’s leading power in fostering talent in the field of energy and environmental protection and is also the first to have been authorized to grant a Doctoral Degree in Energy and Environmental Protection Engineering. To date, 46 engineering doctoral students have already been selected and cultivated. In 2017, Pan Tao and Zhang Jinghui of SESE successfully completed the first engineering doctoral dissertation defense and were conferred a Doctoral Degree in Energy and Environmental Protection Engineering.
