GTSI Hosts 2018 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Innovation and Development Summit

On October 21, the 2018 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Innovation and Development Summit was held in Shenzhen, at which people from all walks of life got together to discuss innovation and development of the Area. 
The summit, whose theme was “Gathering innovation power to build a world-class Bay Area”, was cosponsored by the Shenzhen Ma Hong Foundation for the Economic Improvement Research, the Shenzhen Qianhai Financial Innovation Promotion Association, Shenzhenwan Forum Operation and Management Co. Ltd., Shenzhen-Hong Kong production and research base and Georgia Tech Tianjin University Shenzhen Institute (GTSI). Government officials, professors, entrepreneurs and representatives of financial institutions from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao exchanged their ideas on the road to innovation, specifically the innovation cooperating mechanisms for science, technology and finance of the Area.
Experts delivered keynote speeches at the summit, including heads from the China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD), the China Society of Economic Reform (CSER), the Industrial Planning Department of the China Center for International Economic Exchange (CCIEE), and Georgia Institute of Technology.
Hu Wenping, TJU’s Vice President and Acting Dean of GTSI, hosted the Technology Innovation Forum of the Summit, in which participants exchanged their insights on how to build a world-class science and technology innovation center in Shenzhen by virtue of the regional advantages of the Area.
As the host of the Summit, GTSI will take into consideration the international trend of disciplinary development, the developing requirements of China, the requirements for constructing an international innovation center in the Area and the industrial transformation and upgrading in the Pearl River Delta and help to develop the Area’s scientific research in related fields.
