On October 30, the Tianjin University (TJU) Fixed-point Support Work Conference was held in Tanchang county, Longnan city, Gansu province. Zhong Denghua, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering as well as the President of Tianjin University attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The relevant responsible representatives from different departments, colleges and research institutes from Tianjin University were present at the conference. Also, the Party Secretary of Dazhai Village of Shawan Town and members of the graduate education supporting group of Tianjin University were in attendance.

Wang Haiyan, Party Secretary and Director of Gansu Provincial Education Department, together with other officials from relevant municipal and county departments also attended the meeting, which was hosted by Li Pingsheng, Secretary of the Tanchang County Committee.

At the meeting, Han Bingshuang, from Tianjin University, outlined the phased achievement and work plans of Tianjin University to help the work of Tanchang county.

Yuan Dachang, Dean of the Tianjin University Research Institute of Architectural Design and Urban Planning, and Su Hao, the Deputy Head of the Tanchang county Government, on behalf of the two sides, signed an Entrustment Agreement for the whole-region tourism plan, while Yuan reported on the progress of the project.

The relevant representatives of Tianjin University and Tanchang county spoke on TJU’s fixed-point support for Tanchang county. Zhao Danning and Mou Tong, members of the Tianjin University Education Supporting Group, shared their teaching experiences and sentiments. President Zhong Denghua also presented the certificate to the student assistant to the President and education supporting volunteer in the Tanchang County Zhao Danning.

Wang Haiyan first thanked Tianjin University for its assistance to Gansu Province, especially the education work in Gansu Province and the support in Tanchang county. She specifically mentioned that Tianjin University selected outstanding cadres and students to go to Gansu for development and education support, and contributed greatly as well as setting an excellent example. The Tianjin University Research Institute of Architectural Design and Urban Planning has a rational scientific plan for the development of the whole region for the tourism industry in Tanchang county and has set a positive direction for the development of the provincial tourism industry. The long-term development of Gansu is inseparable from the important support of science and technology and talented people. It is hoped that with the outstanding advantages of Tianjin University in the fields of expert knowledge, science and technology, the foundation of Gansu's economic development will be solidly laid.

Zhong Denghua said that TJU will give full play to the advantages of the University and further increase assistance to Tanchang county. In order to further advance the fixed-point support, Zhong Denghua put forward three requirements. Firstly, we must strengthen accountability so as to maximize the aid work and enhance the sense of well-being and happiness of the people of Tanchang. Secondly, it is necessary: to review experiences to date and improve the working mechanisms; to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges with party committees and governments at all levels in Gansu Province, Longnan City and Tanchang county and improve relevant working mechanisms; to combine the assets of Tianjin University with the needs of Tanchang county, to find the main direction and breakthrough, and form a joint force. Thirdly, it is of vital significance to focus on the whole university to concentrate on tackling the problem. In the past few years, the various departments of the school have taken the initiative to participate actively, and the results are obvious to us all. In order to win the battle against poverty, the next step is to continue to serve the economic and social development of Gansu Province and realize the building of a high-quality well-off society with the assistance of Tianjin University.
