On the morning of November 8th, Yang Zhenlin, director of Human Resources of China Automotive Technology Research Center, and Fu Dandan, head of Compensation and Welfare of the Ministry of Human Resources, visited the School of Mechanical Engineering, a discussion was held on the joint training of engineering doctorate. Who else took part in the discussion were Sun he, director of the Graduate School of Tianjin University; Jiao Kui, vice dean of school of Mechanical Engineering; Professors from three departments, teacher of Graduate admission Office and other staff members. The two sides carried out an in-depth exchanges and discussed several problems of joint training of engineering doctorates.
Sun he first introduced the background and characteristics of Tianjin University's engineering doctorate project. At the same time, he pointed out that the cooperative training of engineering doctorate was of great significance to the development of discipline and specialty, the quality of talent training and the promotion of school level. He conveyed the importance attached by the Ministry of Education and Tianjin University to the training of engineering doctorates and some achievements in the joint training of engineering doctorates. It is hoped that through cooperation, the two sides would continue to explore and accumulate practical experience in running a school of engineering doctorates, learn from each other, and actively serve the needs of the country and enterprises for mutual benefits，so as to cultivate a group of knowledgeable and capable leaders in the field of engineering.
Minister Yang Zhenlin introduced the outstanding performance of Tianjin University’s graduates in the China Auto Research Center and the significance of the cooperative training of engineering doctorates to the School. He introduced the common technology research, quality management, large data research, the judicial identification of automobile and all links of automobile industry chain, which provided scientific and technological services for eight governmental departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Environmental Protection,etc. Yang noted that there were more than 20 secondary units in CNPC, and all the regulatory agencies and governments in the auto industry had cooperated with CNAC. Meanwhile the automobile and internal combustion engine were two related majors of the School of Mechanics that were in close contact with them, which was a very good opportunity. Hope the two sides can further deepen the project cooperation in engineering doctorate training in the future.
Jiao Kui introduced the present situation of the School of Mechanical Engineering in Tianjin University and a series of contents such as enrollment, training, graduation, system construction and so on. The two sides discussed some problems of engineering doctorate training in the future and further exchanged views and reached consensus on the recruitment, training and degree of engineering doctorate, finally formed the will to achieve sustained cooperation, which was of great significance to strengthen the construction of related disciplines, to enhance the internationalization, to train applied talents and to serve the needs of national talents.
Tianjin University's doctorate degree in engineering was approved in 2011, and began to recruit students in 2012. It was one of the first 25 pilot units, the current enrollment covers two engineering fields in energy and environmental protection and advanced manufacturing; The School of Mechanical in Tianjin University is the leading training unit in advanced manufacturing and machinery field. Up till now, 30 doctoral students in engineering have been selected.
