Law Student Symposium on Bar Exams, Professional Ethics, and Education Reforms Held in TJU

On November 11th, 2018, the Law Student Symposium on Bar Exams, Professional Ethics, and Education Reforms was successfully held at Tianjin University Law School. The symposium was co-sponsored by Tianjin University Law College and China-Japan-Korea Cooperation Research Center (Law) of Renmin University of China. Nearly 50 students from Renmin University of China, Nagoya University of Japan, Sungkyunkwan University of Korea, University of Oslo, Norway and Tianjin University participated in this symposium.

At the beginning of the symposium, Professor Youhai Sun, Dean of Tianjin University Law School and Professor Xiangshun Ding from Renmin University of China Law School delivered opening speeches respectively.

Dean Sun expressed warm welcome to the arrival of teachers and students from all over the world. In his speech, he introduced the long history of Tianjin University and Tianjin University Law School. He pointed out that Tianjin University Law School maintains a good interactive relationship with Renmin University of China Law School and many other famous universities in the world. The student-centered teaching concept has provided new ideas for the teaching model reform of Tianjin University Law School. He wished the symposium a great success.

Professor Ding introduced the background of this law student symposium. This symposium was student-oriented and aimed to build a platform for legal communication among universities in various countries and encourage students to interact positively.

This symposium focused on the theme of "Bar Exams, Professional Ethics, and Education Reforms", and discussed the latest reforms in legal education in different countries. The symposium adopted English as the language of discussion and communication. The students have reported the legal education systems in Japan, South Korea, China, the United Kingdom, the United States and Norway respectively. After the report, students from various countries communicated with each other and discussed the contentious topics such as "Legal Professional Qualification Examination Reform", "The Relationship between Judicial Examination and Legal Education" and "Problems in Legal Education Reform in Various Countries". Through this symposium, students from all over the world have exchanged their legal opinions and broadened their horizons.
