The 10th Council of Da Hai Foundation held in Tianjin

On the 16th of November 2018, the first session of the 10th Council of Da Hai Student Aid Foundation was successfully held in the School of Civil Engineering on Beiyangyuan Campus of Tianjin University.

During the meeting, Mr. Gao Xifeng, the council chairperson of the Da Hai Student Aid Foundation and associate dean of the School of Civil Engineering thanked all the directors and supervisors who came from all over the country to attend the meeting and took time out of their busy schedule.

He reported the overall situation of a work progress of the Foundation since January till October 2018. In 2018 it added Charitable Foundation for Poverty Alleviation based on existing fellowship and student aid projects. It also combined the advantages of education and scientific research resources of the School of Civil Engineering and developed charitable projects such as study tours in Fujia Village and safety inspection of vegetable greenhouses. With a strong support of the donors Cui Hongxiu, Song Lingtao and Yang Manrong the charitable project Sea Staff Home has not only hardened students hands-on and operations management skills, but also created a platform for the learning exchange of young teachers. The Foundation has received strong support from the alumnus of the 88th graduation of the Department of Civil Engineering and other former students who donated 1596 cups of coffee and more than 600 books. It has created a culture in which alumni and faculty care for students and actively give back to their alma mater. In 2018 different projects of Sea Student Aid Foundation went smoothly. As of the end of October, the amount of 2.65 million RMB was donated. The net assets increased by 2.45 million RMB and 6 public charitable projects were carried out. It is estimated that the total amount of donation will be more than 850,000 RMB by the end of the year.

Afterwards, the directors and supervisors held extensive discussions on the design and operation of the project in 2019. They expressed their confidence that next year the Foundation will rise to a higher level.

After the meeting the members of the Council altogether visited Sea Staff Home which is one of the charitable projects, it serves to the teachers and students of the School of Civil Engineering. In order to create a “literary atmosphere at the School of Civil Engineering” and to set up more comfortable learning and leisure environment for the students, Mr. Cui Hongxiu donated 20,000 RMB on the spot. This money can be specially used to purchase books for Sea Stuff Home and will help to create good learning atmosphere for students to make them read good books, love reading and read more.
