Cao Xiaohong, Vice Mayor of Tianjin Municipality and other members from Tianjin Municipal Government visited School of Artificial Intelligence at Tianjin University on November 16, accompanied by Wang Jing, Deputy Secretary-General of Tianjin Municipal Government, Tianjin Municipal Leadership from different departs such as Municipal Education Commission, Science and Technology Bureau, Finance Bureau, Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and Zhong Denghua, President of Tianjin University, Wang Shuxin, Vice President of Tianjin University, Gu Yao, Chief Accountant of Tianjin University, etc.

The delegation first visited School of Artificial Intelligence at College of Intelligence and Computing and investigated the achievements related to AI, such as Intelligent Driving Vehicles, Haiyan Underwater Glider, and Metamorphic Robots.

The delegation then arrived at the Integrative Service Administration Center to attend the Symposium. At the symposium, Zhong Denghua first expressed warm welcome to the delegation. Then, he introduced the development and achievements of Tianjin University in recent years, especially the achievements related to Emerging Engineering Education, Talents Training on Artificial Intelligence and Innovation related to Science and Technology. Wang Shuxin introduced School of Artificial Intelligence from the aspects of Discipline Development, Curriculum Arrangement, Talent Training and Scientific Research Achievements. Both parties fully discussed over the development of this School from the aspects of Faculty Recruiting, Discipline Construction and Talents Training.

Cao Xiaohong fully recognized the achievements of School of Artificial Intelligence. She emphasized that the School needs to understand the significance of accelerating the development of Artificial Intelligence. New system of Emerging Engineering Education needs to be explored, while more efforts needs to be put on recruiting talents from home and abroad. Scientific Research needs to integrate with industry needs, which will then provide driving force for the high-quality development of Tianjin Municipality.
