TJU President Zhong Denghua Meets QUB President Ian Greer

On November 23, TJU President. Zhong Denghua met with Queen's University Belfast President and Vice-Chancellor, Ian Greer and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mark Price during the Presidents’ UK-China University Consortium Forum on Engineering Education and Research.

President Zhong briefly introduced the development of Tianjin University, especially Emerging Engineering Education and international exchange and cooperation and reviewed the cooperation between the two universities in the field of mechanics. Since there has been solid and extensive cooperation between TJU and QUB, President Zhong invited Queen's University Belfast to join the International Alliance of Emerging Engineering Education initiated by TJU, thus deepening the cooperation in Emerging Engineering Education, talent cultivation and scientific research in the future.

President Greer recalled that the long history of cooperation between TJU and QUB originated from student exchange. He said that as one of the British Universities of the UK-China University Consortium, QUB is pleased to promote various levels of communication and cooperation with TJU. Furthermore, he hoped that UK-China University Consortium would foster the cooperation between UK and China centering on pursuing excellence. Additionally,
President Zhong’s proposal aroused QUB’s interest in joining the International Alliance of Emerging Engineering Education. President Greer hoped there would be more substantive programs to strengthen the cooperation between TJU and QUB.
Looking back at the history of cooperation between TJU and QUB, there have been many outstanding achievements, such as the joint training program for undergraduates in mechanics and the co-founding of the Tianjin Composite Materials Research Center.
