Sun Yao, Vice Minister of Education visited Tianjin University. University leaders Li Jiajun, Zhong Denghua, Hu Wenping, Lei Ming, Zhang Fengbao, Wang Shuxin and Xiao Songshan, etc. accompanied the visit.

The delegation first visited Tianjin University History Museum and Feng Jicai Literature and Art Research Institute. During the visit, Sun Yao communicated with the Dean of the Research Center and the faculty there. He recognized the importance of the contribution that the Institute has made in cultural advancement and talents training. He then visited College of Intelligence and Computing and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Bases related to Computer Science Discipline. He fully affirmed the achievements of Tianjin University in the field of Artificial Intelligence. In the meeting held afterwards, the development of Tianjin University was introduced to Mr. Sun from the aspects of history, university scale, talents training, scientific research, and discipline construction. Sun Yao fully affirmed the achievements of Tianjin University in recent years. He hoped that the University can continue to explore the Emerging Engineering Education model, stick to the “Double-First Class” initiative and accelerate the construction of world class University under the guidance of the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping in the National Education Conference.

During the visit, Sun Yao also attended the Evaluation Meeting on the feasibility study report of the National Key Science and Technology Infrastructure “Large-Scale Earthquake Engineering Simulation Research Facility” organized by the Ministry of Education and Tianjin Municipal Government.
