Tianjin University President, Zhong Denghua, spent the lunar New Year’s Eve with the teachers and students who stayed at Tianjin University during the Spring Festival, bringing more than 200 Chinese and foreign teachers and students a taste of home.
On the afternoon of the day of the lunar New Year's Eve, the third floor of the Fourth Canteen of the Weijin Road Campus, decorated with lanterns and festoons, was filled with a festive holiday atmosphere. A banner stood out saying: "Tianjin University Lunar New Year's Eve Teachers and Students’ Party". President Zhong Denghua, Vice Party Secretary of Tianjin University Lei Ming, and many other heads from the relevant offices, came together with these teachers and students to celebrate the Spring Festival.
Firstly, President Zhong extended his lunar New Year wishes to teachers, students and their families. He said: “I wish you all a happy lunar New Year, and your careers or study greater success. I hope that each student at Tianjin University can achieve their ‘small goals’ in the new year and continue to forge ahead and struggle for the realization of the Chinese dream.” Then, the teachers and students performed a variety of extraordinary cultural programs, such as national dance, romantic and melodic guitar solo, unique sleeve dance, etc. What’s more, much to the students’ surprise, Zhong Denghua and Lei Ming, on behalf of Tianjin University, gave each student a red envelope containing cash of 200 yuan and a book. This unusual lunar New Year gifts, "a red envelope and a book," showed Tianjin University sincere blessings, care and expectations for her students. A Tajikistan student studying at Tianjin University said excitedly, "It’s the first year I have been here for the Spring Festival in China. I feel great! I’m very grateful to the University for organizing such a wonderful party and preparing such meaningful gifts for us. I have a feeling of home at Tianjin University!”
The tradition has been followed for more than 20 years at Tianjin University that TJU sends students staying at school special gifts for the Spring Festival, and the university leaders spend the lunar New Year's Eve with them and give away red envelopes to them. This year, the university also sent these students “the Spring Festival Gift Packs” which contained candies, fresh and dried fruits. In addition, the university released security and service information during the winter holiday through various campus media platforms, aiming to prompt students to manage their time reasonably and to have a safe and happy holiday.
