He said: "I studied at Tianjin University. All these materials are historical records of my Alma Mater during those days and the university deserves them all." Undoubtedly, for Tianjin University, these donations make up for the absence of real objects in the archives in the field of sports.

From 1951 to 1956, He Huanran studied at the then Department of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University. After he graduated in 1956 he stayed to teach at the University. He taught Mechanical Drawing and served as the teaching secretary of the Director of the Department. In 1997, after being transferred to the Tianjin Internal Combustion Engine Research Institute at Tianjin University, he was mainly engaged in the research of the application of ethanol gasoline, methanol gasoline and methanol diesel oil. He was the chief editor of the Journal of Internal Combustion Engine, Small Internal Combustion Engine and Internal Combustion Engine. Fond of sports since childhood, he participated in many track and field events and achieved excellent results. In May, 1954, he broke the record of 200-meter sprint in North China with 23.1 seconds in the first Tianjin College and Middle School Student Sports Games. Moreover, it only took him 11.2 seconds to run the 100-meter sprint.

He Huanran, in the diaries he donated wrote: "For the sake of my country, I should exercise; for the sake of my health, I should stick to a planned exercise program; for the sake of sports development, I should take action to encourage others to exercise." When donating them, he said he was deeply impressed by President Xi' comment that strong sports leads to a strong country. He hoped his donations could provide some historical records for later generations.
