The “Design of China” exchange conference was held in Xi’an on April 21, 2017. During the conference, the signing ceremony for Regional Centers of the Design of China programs was also held. Cao Shuqian, Deputy Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University, signed the “Design of China—Tianjin Design Center” agreement with the Innovation Design Alliance of China (IDAC). Xiang Zhongxia, a professor from the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University was appointed as an Expert to the Executive Committee of the Design of China program.

Advocated and organized by Lu Yongxiang, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Pan Yunhe, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the “Design of China” was established under the IDAC.

The Tianjin Design Center will serve to display and promote achievements of the “Design of China” program, popularize innovation-driven development strategy and recommend entries for the “Design of China” competition. The Tianjin Design Center provides an innovative platform for Tianjin University in industry-university-research cooperation. Concurrently, in-depth cooperation in the cultivation of students’ innovative ability, the practice of innovation and entrepreneurship, and the promotion of creative achievements, will be developed within the “Design of China” program.
