Recently, the Third National College Cloud Computing Application Innovation Contest Finals opened in Nanjing. Fifty-five teams were selected from 1,900 students from 489 teams from 138 universities nationwide entered the finals. The student team from the School of Computer Science and Technology of Tianjin University won the grand prize for its @Cloud Project.
The National College Cloud Computing Application Innovation Contest includes two categories: the Creative Group and the Entrepreneur Group. Apart from the “TANK” team from Tianjin University, 20 teams from prestigious universities such as Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Southeast University, and Shanghai Jiaotong University, also entered the Creative Group Final. In the match, all the teams gave comprehensive and detailed presentation of their entries, presenting a number of practical ideas and projects, such as an offline transmission APP, a parking APP, online abduction-crackdown, and baby vervel. They provided new ideas for the resolution of traditional difficulties in the field of cloud computing.
The “TANK” team is comprised of four graduate students from the School of Computer Science and Technology, namely Wang Hui, Wang Shanjia, Cai He and Zhang Yuhua. Under the guidance of Professor Wang Xiaofei, the team came up with an offline sharing project where information could be sent and recommended without using mobile data. It is known that the platform has been completed. In a backstage operation, the team is capable of knowing the subscribers’ interests and recommending an algorithm by using big data and the cloud computing technology. By doing so, the subscribers can easily get useful information and share it with acquaintances face-to-face. Moreover, the technology can be applied to enterprises in introducing products to potential customers. The team members were highly praised by the judges and experts for their active thoughts and vivid imagination.
The contest is held by the Ministry of Education Science and the Technology Development Center. The grand and first prizes will be awarded to the winners at the ACM Turing 50th Celebration Conference.
