Tianjin University-Nanchang Micro Technology Research Institute Inaugurated

On May 16, the Tianjin University-Nanchang Micro Technology Research Institute at Tianjin University was inaugurated. Tianjin University Party Secretary Li Jiajun, President Zhong Denghua, the Mayor of Nanchang City, Guo An, and Huang Jun, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Nanchang National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone unveiled the research institute together.

The goal of the Research Institute is to build a world-class micro-technology research platform as well as a commercialization base for research achievements. The Institute will take advantage of Tianjin University’s strength in micro technology to focus on the development of key devices like micro-sensors, micro actuators, and microelectronic chips, which can be applied to such fields as mobile terminals, the internet of things, virtual reality engineering, wearable equipment, aerospace engineering, life and biological engineering and other fields.

During the meeting, Party Secretary Li Jiajun emphasized that TJU will fully support the development of the Research Institute and further deepen the cooperation with Nanchang City. He added: “The Institute is attracting outstanding talent from all over the world through multiple channels, hoping to establish a new open and competitive talent development mechanism through in-depth cooperation.”

The Mayor Guo An hoped to carry out more extensive cooperation with other leading disciplines of TJU to provide strong support for the industrialization of research achievements and to create a new model of cooperation between universities and government.
