Recently, Tianjin Municipal Education Committee announced the fifth phase of the Listing of Tianjin's Key Disciplines. All 30 level I disciplines recommended by Tianjin University were included.

The 30 disciplines of Tianjin University listed as the fifth phase key disciplines of Tianjin include 27 level I disciplines doctoral degree and three level I disciplines master’s degree, covering science, engineering, management, medicine, and education. They are: education, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, mechanics, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, instrument science and technology, material science and technology, dynamical engineering and engineering thermo-physics, electric engineering, electronic science and technology, information and communication engineering, control science and engineering, computer science and technology, architecture, civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, chemical engineering and technology, ship and marine engineering, environmental science and engineering, bio-medical engineering, urban planning, landscape architecture, software engineering, pharmacy, management science and engineering, business administration, and public administration.

Tianjin University has kept improving and perfecting the governing structures, disciplinary layout and quality control. The University has been promoting exchange and cooperation, interdisciplinary integration, and disciplinary influence.
