Center for Green Buildings and Sponge Cities Inaugurated

On May 20, the Center for Green Buildings and Sponge Cities at the Georgia Tech Tianjin University Shenzhen Institute was inaugurated in Shenzhen. Tianjin University Vice President Hu Wenping, Georgia Institute of Technology Vice Provost Yves H. Berthelot, and Vice Secretary General of the Shenzhen Municipal Government Liu Jiachen jointly unveiled the Center plaque.

Vice President Hu Wenping indicated during his speech that the launching of the Center was a milestone for the Georgia Tech Tianjin University Shenzhen Institute. The strategy of scientific research going ahead in line with the development of the Institute laid a solid foundation in talent training with Shenzhen as a basis for the integration of the two universities’ strengths and between China and the U.S.

According to a cooperation agreement signed previously between Tianjin University, Georgia Tech, and the City of Shenzhen to establish the Institute, it offers majors in electrical and computer engineering, computer science, industrial design, environmental engineering and analytics and develops major research centers focusing on green buildings and sponge cities, signal processing and data analytics, and wearable, printed electronics and advanced telecommunications.
