Recently, the competition of outstanding youth league branches was successfully held at the Student Centers on both the Weijin Road and Peiyang Park Campuses of Tianjin University. More than 20 classes displayed their branch culture through multiple forms, including drama, singing and dancing. Each of them was well rehearsed and gave marvelous performances for the crowds.
The first drama from the Qiushi Honors College started with the collapse of a bridge. Combining their basic courses with bridge construction, the students set about recovering the bridge and refreshing their crabapple village through joint effort and perseverance, reflecting the core of Mao Yisheng’s spirit with their practice. Aside from Qiushi’s example, a variety of forms and ideas were applied to the performance of other branches.
For example, the English majors from the School of Foreign Languages and Literature narrated the growth of their class in the form of consecutive interpreting being carried out in several foreign languages. The students from the School of Electrical Automation and Information Engineering vividly presented their class characteristics through what they had learnt in class. As well as these, the reproduction of a contemporary and famous costume drama was strikingly original in the presentation of youth league branches, and struck the right chord with the audience.
It was not only a visual feast, but also a competition of innovation. From PPT design to the rehearsal of the presentations, every branch member spared no effort to make a difference in the play. Finally, ten of all youth league branches were selected to be role models of outstanding youth league branches, including Class 3 of the 2015 Applied Chemistry Major in the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, and others. Besides, three branches won the award for the best presentation including the united branch of the 2015 Law Major in the Law School and others, and the award for the best creation was given to three branches including Class 1 of the 2015 English Major in the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, and others.
More than ten counselors from various schools attended the competition, including the School of Computer Science and Technology, the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, the School of Computer Software, the College of Management and Economics, and so on.
It was an excellent show, well received by those in attendance. Students from each class displayed more than what was shown in the presentation itself. What the competition aimed at was not only the presentation of branch culture, but also the unity of the classes, passing the spirit from grade to grade, and from generation to generation.
