On the final of the 17th "Dongfeng Nissan Cup" Tsinghua IE Sword National Industrial Engineering Case Study Competition organized by Tsinghua University during October 29-30,Tianjin University achieved a new breakthrough, winning the grand prize and first prize.
The excellent course design exhibition track of this event attracted the participation of teams from Tianjin University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northeast University, Northwest Polytechnic University, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chongqing University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a total of 30 teams entered the final.
The entryfrom the College of Management and Economics "Bearing Fault Diagnosis Based on Quality Big Data" by the “Peiyang Partners” team, which was directed by Associate Researcher He Yingdong of the Department of Industrial Engineering, won the National Grand Prize in the final round with the first place in the competition. The team members are Tian Xiangyu, Wu Xinyu, Li Kai and Li Zheng from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Yu Pengcheng from the Department of Information Management and Information Systems.
Team “Makabaka”, directed by Prof. Mao Zhaofang from the Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management, won the first prize in the national finals with the third place in the competition for its entry "Planning for Field Hospital Deployment after Hurricane Disaster". The team members are Ma Xiaohan from Industrial Engineering, Liu Yuan from Xuanhuai College, and Zhao Yuran and Kang Qian from Logistics Engineering.
Based on the big data of bearing quality, the team “Peiyang Partners” used the method based on EEMD decomposition to evaluate the noise reduction of vibration signals, and extracted 12 key features through statistical time-domain feature parameters and envelope spectrum demodulation. By comparing the fault diagnosis of various classifiers, the team members selected Catboost classifier training features with good prediction results and make proper prediction. And the single and combined fault samples were distinguished to obtain specific fault types of single fault samples. Through envelope spectrum analysis and quality statistics, the frequency domain features of combined fault signals were further extracted, and the fault diagnosis in the second stage was carried out to obtain the specific types of combined faults. The project has constructed a comprehensive and automatic bearing fault diagnosis platform, and the diagnosis effect is remarkable.
The team “Makabaka” made a detailed analysis on the casualty treatment of field hospitals after hurricanes and other natural disasters, assessed the current medical service capacity of field hospitals based on the anylogic modeling method, and provided a plan to maximize the operational effect and adaptability of field hospitals. From the overall perspective, the team “Makabaka” integrated the ideas of industrial engineering and logistics engineering, and used rich technical routes, giving corresponding solutions to the current common problems and the individual problems given in the topics of field hospitals. From the feedback results, the improvement program has achieved remarkable results, and the efficiency of field hospitals has been significantly improved.
After the competition, Tian Xiangyu, the team leader of “Peiyang Partners” said, "This competition lasted for half a year. I led the team to spend a lot of time improving the unsatisfied part found in the preliminary round, looking for many methods in the papers, and designing more than 20 experiments without getting satisfactory results. Three days before the final contest, when I observed the data, I accidentally found that the solution I tried before included a processing method, which could make the results more significant. The final method was established along this direction, which remind me of a proverb of‘If you stay positive, you have a shot at a silver lining’. I sincerely appreciate our instructor professor He Ying-dong and my team partners. It is our teacher's careful guidance and everyone's unity and cooperation that help our team make continuous progress and finally achieve today's results. "
The members of the team “Makabaka” mentioned that they have accumulated very valuable experience through this competition. The firstexperience was“learning from each other's strengths”. In cooperation, students from different disciplines complemented each other's strengths and learned from each other through different perspectives, so as to better solve problems. Also“planning reasonably”was significant. During the competition, the team work has carried out orderly to avoid uneven time and tasks. Last but not least, they learned to "timely response". The team timely negotiated and solved the problems fed back by members, seized the opportunities and ensured efficiency.
It is reported that the IE Sword National Industrial Engineering Case Study Competition is a special event of China Innovation Method Competition recognized by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is an annual industrial engineering event. Since the first competition was held in 2006, after 17 years of development, it has played a positive role in promoting the growth of innovative talents, deepening quality education in colleges and universities, improving the quality of talent training, and promoting industrial engineering specialty. It is also one of the industrial engineering professional competitions with the largest number of sessions and the greatest influence in China.
